The La Fenice Theatre, located in the Sestiere of San Marco in campo San Fantin, today is the main Opera House in Venice.
The December 13, 1836 a fire, probably caused by a malfunctioning stove, destroys the Auditorium and part of the theater. Theater collapses, but are spared from the fire hall and the sale Apollinee.
The January 29, 1996 a devastating arson destroys the theater.
Since January 1, 2004, to celebrate the rebuilding of the theatre, the Phoenix hosts the new year's concert and each year the concert ends with a toast of La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi, "Libiamo ne ' lieti calici".
